Amsterdam Dance Event 15 t/m 19 Oct 2014

Amsterdam Dance Event – Club ADE at K264, Wednesday (15-10)

My longest set ever, I played a 12-hour (!) set, at a new conference hangout, K264, invited upon request by ADE, because obviously it is important to create an atmosphere, since most people communicate about music and so do I. Right in the heart of the conference of ADE, so I prepared many elements, thinking about the time length that people visit, re-charge themselves & computer. Considering artists that are performing at the festival, and music that has been part of my background. (from soundscapes to dance tracks, German Electronica, Belgian New Beat, British Braindance, Scandinavian Minimal, Dutch Classics) I opened every hour with paying tribute to the late Mark Bell from LFO who sadly passed away this week. “Blown” is so delicate and beautiful, one of my favourites.

Later in the afternoon I played the whole album of Kraftwerk’s “Computer World” again, because that suited the space perfectly! Eventhough a youngster asked me what music it was, he liked it, I said a German electronic boyband from some time ago hehe. While djing, I spoke to many kind people from all over the world, who thanked me for my music choice. It is not a club vibe over here but people pay attention to you in a different context, so many thanks to ADE for making this one possible. Getting compliments from people from the industry is truely one of the nicest things. Robin Jaydee wrote on his book of faces:  “een vrouwelijke dj met heel veel muzikaal gevoel”. His track “Plastic Dreams” became the Queensday-anthem of me and my friends. How nice is that?

Here a special ADE-edit of some of the artists who performed this or last year’s edition : on soundcloud

Recommendations for the 19th edition of the Amsterdam Dance Event: (eh..where to start?) 2 many things to see but here is part of my scedule: visit the Kompakt Pop Up store, see some art at the ADE Playground exhibitions. Or if you are registered for the conference than you know what to do :). Mini Gallery is hosting exhibitions on album art covers. Sonos Studio at ADE, with key curators who will give unique insights. Event is free of charge and admissible for everyone.
