I’ll be making two soundtracks for Jose Fransisco Ramos and Alla Kuzmyk at the 19th edition of the Amsterdam Fashion Week Fashion Lab, 15th July 2013. (photo of invite by Quentijn Wulffers)
Jose Francisco Ramos is based in Lima, Peru. As a designer Jose already produces his collections and started from that unique perspective. He uses different techniques and technologies, always founded in an environmental conscious view, to shape his ideas around aesthetics. Jose will make his debut on AFW with his menswear collection “Fragmento”. The collection is a technical study involving lines, silhouette, volume and composition. Fragmentation in the sense: everything that can be destroyed can be restored, to eventually be consolidated. This is applied in design as it is in the use of materials.
The collection is geometric and materials like organic cotton, cupro, tencel, silk, polyester, acrylic and polyurethane were used. The futuristic feel also shows in the techniques used, such as; printing, laser cutting and double face intarsia knitting. The color palette is black and off white.
Alla Kuzmyk graduated this year at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie (menswear) and also at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute (womenswear). At LAB she will show her womenswear collection “Grotesque Glamour”. Grotesque Glamour” is a layered collection inspired by our current relations towards prescribed drugs and food. Limitless possibilities on what we put into our bodies but also limitless more information on what that does to our bodies and the kind of threats we are living with. The colorful collection focuses on the waist with contrasts, deconstruction and crufted edges in a dramatic romantic way. Within the garments you will find coated fabrics, hand-dyed and printed in colors and patterns derived from microscopical views on viruses.

Alla chose to work with my music, electronic beats, atmospheric layers with staccato rthythm, was difficult for the models to walk on but they managed it beautifully.
